Celestine Ananda is a Junior at Carthage College with a double major in Physics and Mathematics. She is the recipient of a NASA Internship and has been selected for this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight!

This summer, Celestine will be working at NASA Kennedy Space Center as an intern, helping to develop a payload that implements Modal Propellant Gauging (MPG) to be deployed to the International Space Station. Celestine is a third-time recipient of a WSGC Undergraduate Scholarship; was selected to represent Wisconsin at the 2018 Citizens for Space Exploration Congressional visits; served as Team Lead in the Midwest Rocket Launch in 2019 for the Carthage Launch Alliance, as well as, Team Lead for Carthage College’s Magnetoactive Slosh Control (MaSC); and serves as Chapter President for the Society of Physics Students at Carthage.

Celestine participates in the Canopy Near-Infrared Observing Project, or CaNOP, where she serves as the Team Lead of the CubeSat Attitude Determination and Control System. She was also the Team and Data Acquisition and Analysis Lead for Carthage College’s MPG Project. Her work on the project focused on the data collection and analyzation processes, but she aided in the electrical and mechanical design and build. In January, the MPG payload launched in a Blue Origin New Shepard vehicle.

Her interest in aerospace began in studying the Apollo Moon missions and continues with a desire to reach Mars. Celestine is interested in several career paths in the space sciences industry including propulsion, structural analysis, and propellant gauging.
