The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley will host the 28th annual Wisconsin Space Conference on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, in the university’s Communication Arts Center. The theme of this year’s conference is “Uncharted Lands: Geology & Space.”
The conference kicks off at 7:30 a.m. Friday with a continental breakfast and an opening keynote by Dr. Jennifer Anderson, who has collaborated with colleagues at the Experimental Laboratory at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Anderson is a Professor of Geoscience at Winona State University in Winona, MN. Throughout the day, attendees will hear about NASA partnerships, student research, K-12 outreach, academic and industry research, and WSGC team projects. There will be a poster and networking session, and an awards ceremony.
Guests are invited to attend a special presentation, “Apollo: For All Mankind,” by Chris Henry from the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh, WI, at 7:00 p.m. Heavy appetizers will be served prior to the evening plenary session.

Friday Keynote Speaker: Jennifer L. Anderson, Ph. D.
Professor of Geoscience
Winona State University
Dr. Anderson began working on impact experiments at the NASA Ames Vertical Gun Range In Mofffett Field, CA. She joined the Winonna State University faculty in 2005, teaching classes in Astronomy, Planetary Geology, Geophysics, and Earth Science Education. Anderson runs the WSU Observatory and hosts a number of astronomical outreach events annually.
Dr. Anderson received her Ph.D. (2004) and Masters (2001) from Brown University in Providence, RI. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
Friday Evening Keynote Speaker: Chris Henry
Experimental Aircraft Association
Chris Henry is a staff member at the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh, WI. Mr. Henry served as an air traffic controller and flight operations manager for a helicopter company prior to joining the EAA team. He creates special moments for people. He has worked very closely with the B-17 “Aluminum Overcast” Program and has helped give many veterans the chance to become reunited with ‘their” airplane once again. His lecture series includes: The Apollo Program: For All Mankind; B-17: The Final Mission; Richard Bong: Ace of Aces; Tuskegee: The True Story of the Red Tails; B-25: From Tokyo to Hollywood; Apollo 13; and Blacksheep: The True Story of VMF-214.
