Carthage’s CPA accounting program receives high national ranking
Carthage’s accounting program has been recognized as a top program for preparing students for the CPA exam. Ranked with schools like Georgetown, Notre Dame, and Cornell, Carthage is 12th in the nation among medium-sized programs and 34th overall.
Past studies have analyzed a program’s ability to help students master a single section on the exam. Accounting Today’s new, more comprehensive CPA Success Index takes into account scores in all four sections of the exam.
Accounting major Sammy Grochowski ’21 agrees that Carthage is preparing its students well. “I know of many students who have successfully completed the CPA exam immediately after graduation and some who have even taken sections while still at Carthage,” he says.
Sammy believes that having faculty who have practical experience in the field is what makes Carthage’s program so successful. “The professors have passed the CPA themselves. They know what needs to be accomplished in order to pass, and they know how to challenge students in the right ways to help them succeed.”
Julie Dawson, assistant professor of accounting and finance, says, “This national recognition celebrates the hard work and success of our students on the CPA exam as they launch their careers. It is an honor to work with these students and the Carthage professional team that helped foster such excellence.”
