WSGC Student Spotlight - Jacqueline Sporie

October 12, 2020

Congratulations to this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight, Jacqueline Sporie! Jacqueline is the recipient of a WSGC Undergraduate Research award and is currently a junior studying Biology at UW-LaCrosse.

Jacqueline’s research project looks at characterization of graphene zinc oxide thin films. Graphene has been a buzzword in the materials science community for quite some time now. Its fame is well deserved for its numerous desirable properties such as strength and conductivity. In her research, Jacqueline aids in the creation of graphene zinc oxide thin films for use in technologies such as photovoltaics, electronic screens, and varied sensors.

Jacqueline comes from a large family of scientists and engineers who helped cultivate her love for science early on and continue to be a source of inspiration today. She began participating in materials science research nearly two years ago, and attributes this experience to her continued passion for innovation. Jacqueline is also pursuing studies in Spanish, French, and chemistry. Upon graduation she hopes to pursue a PhD in the sciences and progress her work in research.

Congratulations Jacqueline, and best of luck to you in your future!
