Alexander Strange
Senior
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Major: Aerospace Engineering
Minor: none

Alexander Strange is this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight! He is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Aerospace Engineering. This week’s awardee is a recipient of the 2016 Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium Undergraduate Scholarship.

Alexander is currently involved in undergraduate research on Helium-3 extraction at the Fusion Technology Institute at UW-Madison. Even as a child, space and engineering intrigued him as he created his own Lego models. This fascination led him to participate on the UW-Madison Collegiate Rocket Team. His involvement on this team inspired him to found Badger Ballistics, a student organization designed for undergraduate students interested in space. Alexander interned at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab for the last two summers. He spent the time working on the Sample Caching System for the Mars 2020 rover and the Mars 2020 robotic arm. He plans to intern at JPL this summer. Along with obtaining a PhD, Alexander plans to research either space resource acquisition or novel propulsion techniques.

Congratulations Alexander, and good luck on your senior year!
