Aaron Olson
Graduate Student
University of Wisconsin - Madison
Major: Engineering Mechanics and Astronautics
Minor:  Entrepreneurship

Aaron Olson is this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight! He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics and Astronautics. He expects to graduate May 2017 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his Ph.D. Minor in Entrepreneurship, M.S. in Mechanics and Astronautics, and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. This week’s awardee is a recipient of the 2016 Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium Graduate & Professional Research Fellowship.

Aaron conducted summer research on a project–the Lunar Helium-3 Extraction System–with Professor Gerald Kulcinski. This system is designed for the acquisition of lunar volatiles that could be used for space transportation and life-support. He is working to complete his research next summer. The WSGC alumnus also participated in NASA’s Undergraduate Microgravity Research Program and the 2011 winning NASA Exploration Habitat (X-Hab) competition. He is a NASA Goddard Space Fight Center and NASA Langley Research Center former intern.

Congratulations Aaron! Keep up the good work!
