Get ready to blast off and explore your inner astronaut during EAA’s Space Day at the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh! Kids and adults of all ages are invited to join us as we celebrate World Space Week 2016 with a series of out-of-this-world activities, interactive exhibits, and special events on October 8th. Watch a special presentation by a NASA astronaut, see the wonders of the sky from Leeward Plaza, get hands-on with a variety of space-related activities for kids, and much more!

Space Discovery for Kids | 10 a.m.-5 p.m. | EAA AirVenture Museum
Kids of all ages can enjoy a variety of space-themed activities that will educate and spark their curiosity in flight. Those who attend can participate in these activities:

- “Houston, We May Have an Omelet” *—Build your very own “eggstronaut” space capsule. After you are finished with construction, you will have a chance to launch it off a balcony and see if it has a successful landing.
- Straw Rockets—Learn about the parts of a rocket and forces of flight as you build and fly your own straw rocket.
- Fizzy Rockets*—What do you get when you mix Alka-Seltzer and water? Come and experiment with us to see how high your fizzy rocket can go!
- Rocket Cars*—Create your very own air-driven rocket car and learn what makes it speed across the floor as you apply Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
- Coloring Station
*Activities will end at 4:30 p.m.
The Space Shuttle by Roland Miller | 10 a.m – 5 p.m. | Gorman Gallery (1 p.m. Presentation)
Stop by the Gorman Gallery at 1 p.m. to meet Roland Miller, and learn about his collection of work. Miller has captured the beauty, technology, craftsmanship, and dedication that has played roles in the creation of the Space Shuttle.
Star/Sun Gazing | 10 a.m – 5 p.m. | Leeward Plaza (weather permitting)
Grab a bite to eat in the Fergus Plaza, and continue your way behind the museum to view the sky. Professional sun telescopes wait for you to gaze into space where you might see stars or even planets.
When We Left Earth Episode: Landing the Eagle | 10 a.m – 4 p.m. | Skyscape Theater
Narrated by actor Gary Sinise, When We Left Earth compiles stories of the greatest quests known to humankind. From putting the first American man in space, to the historic un-tethered spacewalk, experience the beauty of space from behind the lens of an astronaut.
NASA Astronaut Frank Borman | 5 p.m. | EAA AirVenture Museum
Frank Borman, known as a hero for the American Space Odyssey, is going to be the keynote speaker for EAA’s Space Day! Borman was the Commander of 1968 Apollo 8 Mission, and led the first team of American astronauts to circle the moon. You don’t want to miss the recollections of Frank Borman’s out-of-this-world experience!
All Space Day activities are included with regular admission unless noted (adults, $12.50; seniors age 62+, $10.50; students age 6-17, $9.50; children age 5 and under, free; family rate of two adults plus children, $31.
