UW-Oshkosh Student to Present at Posters on the Hill

March 05, 2015

Christopher Christopherson has been selected to attend the 19th annual undergraduate poster session on Capitol Hill April 22-23, 2015. His poster presentation is titled Observing Nebulosities: the Cygnus Superbubble. The event is hosted by the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR). Christopherson was a 2014-15 recipient of both the WSGC Undergraduate Scholarship Award and Undergraduate Research Fellowship and will be invited to present his research on Aug. 14, 2015, at the 25th Annual Space Conference at the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Impact. A clear and simple message that Christopher Christopherson will be able to share with members of Congress, Congressional staff, federal funding agencies and nearby foundations as he presents the student-led research he and a team of students from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh performed.

Christopherson will be able to show the initial results from his 2014-2015 WSGC-sponsored research project, Observing Nebulosities. Christopherson, along with team mates Nick Grosskopf, Henri LeMieux, Seven Lund and Erik Robinson, study star-forming complexes with the aim of gaining more understanding of their large-scale structure and star-forming history.

The student-led research aims to answer some of the debate and unanswered questions surrounding the Cygnus superbubble. The four-man research team is under the direction of WSGC Affiliate Institutional Representative Nadia Kaltcheva, Physics and Astronomy.
