Student writing in notebook
All Stories

The Office of Marketing and Communications is looking for student employees to join its award-winning staff. Strengthen your portfolio without leaving campus and share your love of Carthage with the world.

Starting right away this fall, we’re looking for a public relations intern or two. Help us publicize the College’s successes and build valuable career skills at the same time.

Primary tasks include:

  • Coordinating Carthage content for Merit Pages, a web-based tool that alerts students’ hometown media about their achievements
  • Writing press releases announcing major campus events
  • Brainstorming targeted media pitches
  • Keeping distribution lists up-to-date by researching journalists and other influencers

As needed, you’ll also collaborate with other members of our fun and talented team to tell the Carthage story through a variety of channels (website, magazine, video, social channels, etc.). PR interns typically work 10 or more hours per week. We can arrange a schedule that fits around your academic and athletic commitments, but you must be available for at least two in-person shifts each week in our office at Madrigrano Hall (weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m). Internship credit is possible.

The best candidate will bring reliability, attention to detail, comfort with short-form writing, and a deep affinity for Carthage. In your application, please include 2-3 samples of your writing and a reference (teacher or professor) who can speak to your qualifications.
