Heather Carroll departing Carthage; Anna Hegland named new writing center director
Heather Carroll, the current director of the Writing Center and Peer Tutoring, is departing Carthage for a new opportunity at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Heather joined Carthage in August 2019 as the director of the Writing Center, and her role was expanded to include the management of Peer Tutoring in July 2020. Her work recruiting and training writing fellows and peer tutors has led to very positive results, helping students succeed in their courses. Heather has done an amazing job, and we thank her for her leadership.
Anna Hegland into the position of director starting the week of Sept. 2. Anna has served as the career specialist for exploratory and undeclared students and as an academic advisor in The Aspire Center since August 2022. Anna also currently serves as part of the Intellectual Foundations faculty. She brings with her a strong academic background in Shakespeare, and medieval and early modern studies cultivated in the United Kingdom. In The Aspire Center, she developed a very strong peer career ambassador program, which built opportunities and competency development for The Aspire career ambassadors. Anna brings a wealth of experience in helping students cultivate their writing and peer helping skills for academic success. She will be an excellent addition to the Writing Center and Peer Tutoring.
