“My favorite class thus far is 3D Art because it introduced me to different types of media that I probably would have not used otherwise.”

“My toughest class was Human Anatomy because there is so much memorization involved, such as knowing the little details of each body part and where they are located.”

“I was part of a summer teaching program with the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. In this program, I had the opportunity to create my own lesson plans and teach them to first and third graders. This was lots of fun because it gave me the feel of how it would be like to be a professional teacher.”

“I had opportunities to showcase some of my artwork and see what it is like to be a professional artist.”

“I received the Buchanan-Joseph RYLA Scholarship. When I first received this scholarship, I was so proud of myself. It meant that I could not only afford college, but that I could go to college in general.”

“One of my favorite moments was when I created my first sculpture out of found objects. I also love the time I get to spend at Einstein Bros. Bagels with my friends.”

“I have two favorite places on campus: the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Natural and Social Sciences, and Hedberg Library.”

“My biggest surprise was when I was invited into the Boys & Girls Club program. I had never thought that one of my professors would look amongst so many students and choose me to teach classes.”

“When I was 8 years old, I had dreams to go into science, though I loved art. I believe that 8-year-old me would be disappointed that I didn’t become a scientist, but I would be so happy that I found a career in which I could be successful as an artist. I would also be glad that I got into Carthage since that was also my dream.”

“Other students should consider the art education major if they want to share their skills with others or if they have a passion for art but don’t know how to be successful with it. My advice is to go in with an open mind because this major is filled with new experiences no matter what situation you are in.”

“I chose Carthage because I heard it had some of the best art programs and it had the education programs I need to be successful.”
