Purpose

Scholarships to support outstanding undergraduate students pursuing STEM-related studies supporting NASA Mission Directorates.

To Apply:

Application Requirements:

Applicants who meet the following requirements can apply for the UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP:

  • WI resident during academic year
  • Enrolled full-time in, admitted to, or applied to any undergraduate program at a WSGC college or university
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (Proposals that include a GPA of less than 3.0 will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
  • Completed application online (see Supporting Materials Required with Application below)

The Consortium invites high school seniors and undergraduate students attending two- and four-year academic institutions to apply to the UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP funding program. The Consortium especially encourages applications from members of minority groups, women, and persons with disabilities, and those pursuing STEM-related studies supporting NASA Mission Directorates spacegrant.carthage.edu/about/mission/directorates/. A technical advisory panel selects award winners based on academic performance and the demonstrated interest in pursuing a STEM career. For consideration, applicants must create a NASA STEM Gateway profile and complete the WSGC UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP application along with supporting documentation.

Current & Past Recipients

Supporting Materials Required with Application:

  1. A maximum two-page statement containing the following (See Tools & Tips for more information on how to create professional communications):
      1. A clear, concise account of the reasons for seeking this scholarship.
      2. Evidence of previous interest and experience in STEM-related studies.
      3. A description of present interest in a STEM field(s) related to a NASA Mission Directorate(s).
      4. A description of the program of STEM-related studies supporting a NASA Mission Directorate(s) the applicant plans to pursue during this period of this award.
  2. Copy of the applicant’s high school transcript (incoming freshmen only)
  3. Copy of most recent college transcript (unofficial is acceptable/not required for incoming freshmen)

*NOTE: Students also applying for other scholarship/fellowship funding programs should submit a statement distinguishing the Undergraduate Scholarship application from other scholarship/fellowship applications. The Technical Advisory Panel gives primary consideration for Undergraduate Scholarship awardees to first-time applicants.

Award Acceptance Components:

As part of the award acceptance, awardees will be asked to attend the Annual Wisconsin Space Conference in August 2025 (spring scholarships) or August 2026 (fall scholarships) and submit the following documents on the WSGC application website under Program Applications/Your Applications:

  • W9
  • Signed Award Agreement
  • One-Paragraph Biography
  • Professional Photo
  • Summary Report
  • Student Story
  • 2-3 Project Photos or 1-minute “IAMSPACEGRANT” Video Featuring Awardee
