Career goal
“When I graduate from Carthage, I hope to go on to dental school, and after that, I would like to practice general dentistry and eventually own my own practice.”
Campus involvement
“I am a member of the men’s swimming and diving team, and I am also the president of Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), the national pre-health honors society here at Carthage. Growing up a swimmer, I always knew that I wanted to be a college athlete, and joining the swim and dive team has allowed me to meet some of my greatest friends here on campus! Although the Carthage AED chapter started up just a few years ago, it has given me some unique opportunities. For example, during my junior year, I was sent to Nashville for a weekend to represent our school at the AED National Convention.”
Internships or on-campus employment
“I am a lifeguard at Carthage’s Koenitzer Aquatic Center, and in previous semesters, I have been a chemistry lab assistant and a pre-health peer mentor. These jobs have allowed me to build up the experience section of my resume and have also given me a little extra spending money for the school year.”
Biggest surprise so far
“The biggest surprise to me so far has definitely been how fast my time here at Carthage has flown by. It feels like yesterday that I was moving into my freshmen dorm room during orientation week, and now here I am, working on my senior thesis while wrapping up some of the last classes I need to graduate!”
Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?
“All of the faculty in the Chemistry Department have been incredible. From my freshman year up to now, my professors have been so helpful in making sure I am able to succeed in all of my classes and ensuring that I am set up for success once I leave Carthage.”
