“I chose Carthage because one of my best friends attends Carthage, and he highly recommended both the education and theatre departments to me. The lake is a big bonus too.”

Favorite class

“Fostering Engagement and Positive Behavior in the Classroom with Professor Nina Weisling was my favorite class. It was very interactive and immersive compared to other education courses. We get to practice what it is like to manage a group of students who are struggling with certain behavior issues. Professor Weisling does an amazing job with making sure we feel confident in leading a group by giving us the steps and resources to be the best that we can be.”

Campus involvement

“I am currently the secretary of the American Sign Language Club on campus. Being an education major, I felt that joining this club would help me potentially communicate with more future students I might have.

“I am also a member of the a cappella choir, Carthachords. It is a student ran choir, and it’s a lot of fun!”

Golden opportunities

“I am currently in the fall workshop musical “Hair.” The message that “Hair” sends is very impactful for today’s audiences. We have been rehearsing for a couple of weeks now, and everyone in the cast is working so hard to make sure that this show is nothing short of incredible.”

Career goal

“Being an early elementary school teacher is my goal. I’ve always loved teaching and working with kids. If I decide to further my education, I would like to get my master’s degree in either early childhood education or educational psychology.”

Favorite spot on campus

“The rocks by the lake. It’s so relaxing, and it’s a great spot to just decompress after a long day.”
