Biography

Cynthia joined the Aspire team in October 2022 as a Career Specialist. Before her venture to Carthage, Cynthia obtained over four years of experience in higher education, serving in roles as an academic advisor, coordinator of unique access programs, and complex director. She has supported students holistically in each of her roles by ensuring that students receive the appropriate support to remain academically successful, connecting students’ passions and interests to careers, and fostering their personal development to ensure that students remain resilient and continue to accomplish their goals beyond graduation.

In addition, Cynthia has over three years of experience in human resources, having obtained experience in talent acquisition, internship program development, employer relations, and onboarding. She is excited to combine her human resources knowledge and experiences in higher education to support students with career preparation in her role as a Career Specialist. Cynthia’s passions are to help students discover who they are, support their development, and see students win.

Main responsibilities at Carthage

Cynthia works as the Career Specialist for Business and Technology majors in The Aspire Center, Carthage’s four-year career and purposeful life development program. She assists students through a full range of activities to support their career development and prepare students to find and obtain rewarding careers.

Favorite thing about working at Carthage

“The people! From the students to the faculty and staff, everyone is warm and welcoming. And not to mention the beautiful campus and lake!”

Other interests?

“I love to craft and bake, and I always find creative ways to be expressive. I also enjoy traveling and seeing new places. Above all, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends by having game nights, trying new places, movie nights, etc.”
