What have you enjoyed most about your career?
“I’ve enjoyed helping people live their best lives through maintaining eye health and visual health. I also enjoy providing mentorship to young doctors.”
How has your liberal arts education benefitted you?
“Once I concluded a 20-year career in private practice, I ventured into rebuilding practices. This required liberal arts skills, such as analysis and problem identification, followed by solutions. Proper communication is always a key in any relationship, business, or life.”
Why did you choose Carthage?
“I chose Carthage because I knew I would receive a well-rounded education, along with extracurricular opportunities such as sports, Student Government, and a fraternity (Tau Delta Psi).”
What opportunities were made possible because of your Carthage experience?
“After Carthage, I was accepted to both optometry school and law school: Southern College of Optometry in Memphis (National Student of the Year, American Public Health Association, 1984) and John Marshall Law School in Chicago.”
What Carthage professors played a part in your success and how?
“Instructors who played a part in my success were Prof. Evelyn Crump, Prof. Teufel, and Prof. Ogren.”
