Vernon Hills, Ill.

Major(s)

Allied Health Science

“Allied health science comes with so many opportunities when you graduate. One of the first classes I took showed us all the different health care careers that we could go into, and it showed how they all worked together which I thought was really cool.”

Career goal

“I want to either be an athletic trainer or a physician assistant.”

How have Carthage faculty had an impact on your life or Carthage career?

“Since the class sizes are so small, the professors can give all of their students as much attention as they need. The professors are also available to help after and outside of class with whatever you need which has been very helpful.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus is anywhere along the lake. Even in the winter, it is beautiful.”

Biggest surprise so far

“The biggest surprise for me so far was how caring and helpful the professors are. Also how they show that they want everyone to succeed. In high school they make it seem like all professors are mean and scary, but after coming to Carthage, I learned that is not the case at all.”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“My 8-year-old self wouldn’t even know what an athletic trainer or physician’s assistant does or who they are. So it’s safe to say, my 8-year-old self would be pretty surprised about where I am now.”

Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?

“Allied health science comes with so many opportunities when you graduate. One of the first classes I took showed us all the different health care careers that we could go into, and it showed how they all worked together which I thought was really cool.”

Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage because it is close to home and close to some extended family. Plus, the campus is beautiful and I love the small class sizes.”
