Career goal

“I am still trying to decide if I want to go into pre-law or government, but whatever I pick, I want to help people as much as I possibly can.”

How have Carthage faculty had an impact on your life or Carthage career?

“The professors at Carthage are very helpful and very knowledgeable about their areas of study. I love how engaged they are in the class.”

Favorite class

“My favorite class at Carthage has been American Thought with Professor Paul Ulrich. I love exploring the different theories of government and how different people have tried to interpret what the proper form of government should be.”

Campus involvement

“I am a part of Alpha Lambda Delta, Carthage Chorale, and the women’s basketball team. I love being a part of all of these because it allows me to continue involvement in all of my interests.”

Opportunities at Carthage

“I am a music minor, so I have been taking choir and private voice lessons. I love performing whenever we are able to have a performance or do a recording.”

Scholarships

“I received Carthage Academic Honors, Inez G. Koch Scholarship, and a Music Scholar grant. I think the one that meant the most to me would be the Academic Honors scholarship because it showed that all of my hard work in high school had paid off.”

Favorite moments and memories at Carthage

“My friends and I went to the President’s Ball this year, which was really fun. Other than that, many of my favorite memories have just been meeting new people and hanging out with my friends.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus would probably be one of The Tower lounge areas because it is one of the best places to do homework. I love the view of the lake while I study.”

Biggest surprise so far

“I never really imagined my college life to be like it was this year. The biggest surprise would be COVID-19, but I hope that we can soon get back to normal life.”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“When I was 8 years old, I did not think about going into political science or criminal justice; I’m pretty sure I wanted to help with my dad’s business or be a landscaper/gardener. If my 8-year-old self were to see me now, I think that she would be kind of surprised but excited.”

Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?

“I really enjoy political science because of all of the thought that goes into it. I love learning about the different types of government that different people think is best. My advice would be to fully immerse yourself in your classes because then they become so interesting, and it can relate to more courses down the road.”

Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage because of its study abroad programs, placement, and a small school in a city. I also like how it is away from home but not too far, so I can easily visit my family.”
