Laurie Jensen
- Program Director, Athletic Training; Assistant Professor of Exercise and Sport Science
Laurie Jensen, M.Ed., LAT, is the program director for athletic training and assistant professor of exercise and sport science. She received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Carthage in 1997, and she has been a certified and licensed athletic trainer since 1999. She joined Carthage in 1999 as a graduate assistant while earning her master’s degree in education. Before joining the faculty in 2000, she worked in the industrial setting as a rehabilitation and wellness specialist for Super Value Corporation.
Prof. Jensen has served as Carthage’s first female head athletic trainer and clinical education coordinator before moving to the role of program director in 2018.
At Carthage, she has taught Introduction of Healthcare Professions, Administration of Athletic Training, Principles of Injury, Pharmacology, Senior Seminar, and Practicum I and V. Within the Exercise and Sport Science Department, she offers courses in Concepts of Fitness, Walking for Fitness, and The Secrets of Longevity.
Prof. Jensen enjoys watching the personal and professional growth of her students. “My desire is to be instrumental in the development of a Carthage graduate that displays integrity, kindness, courage, and determination.”
