    Hornist Karen Suarez Flint has extensive experience performing with symphony orchestras, jazz and chamber music ensembles, new music groups, and musical theater companies. She was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and has performed with the Elgin Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, Fulcrum Point New Music Project, Tower Brass of Chicago, Jerusalem International Symphony, Chicago Opera Theater, Chicago Sinfonietta, Chicago Jazz Orchestra and Chicago Jazz Ensemble.

    Much of her performance career has been spent in the pit as part of the Les Miserables National Broadway Tour, Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s A Little Night Music and Sunday in the Park with George, and other Chicago productions featuring such legends as Tommy Tune, Michael Crawford and Chita Rivera.

    Karen was a Coleman Award Winner at the 1996 Coleman Chamber Music Competition and a finalist at the 1998 Carmel Chamber Music Competition.

    As an arranger of brass chamber music, Karen’s works have been performed and recorded by the Tower Brass of Chicago.

    Karen received a BS in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a MM, Performer’s Certificate, and DMA in Horn Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music.

    Dr. Suarez Flint loves to teach and is proud of her current and former students, some of which have pursued graduate degrees at DePaul and Northwestern, are members of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and have performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Omaha Symphony, and Phoenix Symphony.
