The 2015-2016 Affiliate Student Internships are one-year commitments, competitively selected at each institution to receive training on sensor package construction and deployment on tethered aerostats.
Expectations of Affiliate Student Interns
Each ASI is expected to
- participate in training workshop on aerostat hardware and data analysis.
- participate in the construction, launch, and data analysis of a aerostat-based monitoring project on or near their campus.
- attend and present the results of TAP research at the annual Wisconsin Space Conference.
- contribute to the writing of progress reports and to the project summary report for publication in the Proceedings of the Wisconsin Space Conference.
Affiliate Student Intern Stipend
ASIs are paid $5000 stipends per year in four equal installments.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen
- 3.0 Cumulative GPA
- major in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field
- commitment to pursuing a career in a STEM field
Program Goals
The goal of the WSGC Tethered Aerostat Program is to improve retention in science fields and to encourage participating in Wisconsin’s technical workforce. To assess how well the TAP meets these goals, we request that each Affiliate Student Intern provide progress updates (transcripts) each semester during TAP participation.
