Congratulations to this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight, Jennifer Stafford! Jennifer is the recipient of the 2022-2023 WSGC Graduate and Professional Research Fellowship.
Jennifer Stafford is a 5th year PhD student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Astronomy. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she grew up in Ashland, Wisconsin, and obtained her undergraduate degree in astronomy from The Ohio State University in 2019. She currently works on simulations of active galactic nuclei (AGN) jets to study whether the jets can be used to explain the observed lack of cooling in cool-core galaxy clusters. She planned to use the Wisconsin Space Grant to fund travel to the 2023 Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science’s National Diversity in STEM Conference and the American Astronomical Society’s 243rd Meeting, where she will present and share her research.
Congratulations, Jennifer, and best of luck in your future!
