WSGC Student Spotlight: Katherine McClain

Congratulations to the week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight, Katherine McClain! Katherine is the recipient of the 2022-2023 Unmanned Ariel Vehicle Program.

Katherine McClain is a senior Geoscience major from Lawrence University. She spent the summer investigating the effects of prescribed fire on plant communities in a prairie ecosystem with a team consisting of three other students: Ava Beyers, a junior Geoscience and Environmental Science double major from Carthage College; Trent Ediger, a senior Geoscience major from Lawrence University; and Haley Siculan, a senior Environmental Science major from Lawrence University. She and her team members share a passion for science and protecting the earth. Fueled by these passions, the team elected to pursue a research project that was not only science-based but would also help the planet. The team is grateful for the fantastic opportunity to further their scientific skills and grow as researchers.
