WSGC Student Spotlight: Meghan Krueger

Congratulations to Meghan Krueger, this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight! Meghan is the recipient of an Undergraduate Scholarship award. She attends the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Fox Cities campus where she majors in Geology.

Meghan has always been intrigued by the Earth’s processes, fossils, and the evolution of life on Earth. She hopes to study life in all areas in the future, on Earth and potentially elsewhere. Meghan is a student worker for the Geology Department of UW-Oshkosh, Fox Cities, setting up geology labs for different classes and assisting the professor in various ways. She is also an officer of the Geo-Adventurers Club at her school, doing activities like caving, hiking, and geocaching. Recently, Meghan got to participate in a Paleontology field trip where they collected fossils such as a Silurian-age Hexagonaria coral, and it was thanks to her Geology courses that she was able to identify the fossils. 

After Meghan obtains her associate’s degree in Geology, she plans on furthering her scientific education. Although her primary interest is invertebrate fossils, Meghan would also like to study Geological events such as earthquakes, volcanoes, meteor strikes, and extinctions, and how they change Earth’s environment.
