WSGC Student Spotlight: University of Washington FNL Team

March 22, 2021

Congratulations to this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight, the AISES UW Chapter First Nations Launch (FNL) Team! The team joins the FNL program for the first time from the University of Washington.

The team includes:
Cayenne Matt (pursuing Physics and Astronomy)
Charlie George (pursuing Mechanical Engineering)
Osvaldo Aldaz (pursuing Aerospace Engineering)
Chyson Acoba (pursuing Chemical Engineering)

The team views this opportunity as a way to build a good foundation for interest and participation for the future of the UW AISES chapter. They hope to learn rocketry and system designs with hands-on-activities. Most importantly, they want to have fun.
The team’s National Association of Rocketry (NAR) mentor, Mike Harrell, is a UW faculty in the Earth and Space Science department.

Members of the team Cayenne, Charlie, Chyson, and their team advisor, Scott Pinkham, participated in this year’s Launch 2 Learn program. Last weekend, Charlie and Cayenne received their Level 1 certification after successfully flying and recovering their rocket at a NAR club launch. Chyson and Scott hope to receive their Level 1 certification at the FNL competition launch next month.

Congratulations to the AISES UW Chapter FNL Team, we can’t wait to see what you accomplish!
