The Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium (WSGC) is excited to announce Wisconsin Aerial Jam, the second annual REC Foundation (RECF) Aerial Drone Challenge event, hosted at Carthage College on Saturday, January 31, 2026. This year’s challenge theme is Mission 2026: Time Warp — a thrilling opportunity for students to test their drone piloting, engineering, and teamwork skills in a high-energy competition environment.

Time: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Carthage College – Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center (TARC)
Capacity: 24 teams
Registration Deadline: Friday, November 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM

What’s New for 2026

The REC Foundation has launched a new event platform, RECFEvents.org,where all Aerial Drone Challenge teams must create a profile to register.  We encourage teams to explore the platform’s robust knowledge library, designed to help you navigate every stage of preparation — from setting up your team to mastering competition rules.

Challenge Components

The RECF team has designed the 2026 Challenge Course using many of the same components as last year. To complete this year’s course, returning teams will need:

  • One challenge kit ($360)
  • An additional 10-ft section of PVC

New teams will need:

  • One competition field elements kit ($1000)
  • One challenge kit ($360)
  • Drones
